2019 Mixed Closing Bonspiel Winners and runners up of Divisions A, B, C & D

A good time was had by all!

Feb 16, Third Annual Cecil Hicks Funspiel

The third annual Cecil Hicks Memorial Funspiel was held on February 16, 2019.  In the spirit of fun and non-competitiveness that Cecil, a longtime member of the Club and a mentor to many, would have appreciated, the teams were drawn randomly and changed for each game. Each four-end game had a twist in the third end – players had to use a stick, or had to throw the other team’s rocks, or could not employ takeouts. Cecil’s son Les and daughters Sharon and Sylvia were in attendance.

The winners of the Cecil Hicks award for sportsmanlike play were Eric Tusz-King and Donna Sharpe.

Thanks to all the volunteers for all your hard work organizing the third annual Cecil Hicks Funspiell!

 Jan 2019 Brown Bag Fun-spiel

Thanks to Nick and Elizabeth for all your hard work organizing another Brown Bag Funspiel! These spiels give us all an opportunity to play with “new people” that we wouldn’t normally get to play with. The food, drinks, prizes, 50/50 (thanks, Hughie) and the people made for a great afternoon!

Xmas 2018 Turkey Draw

SCC's mixed closing bonspiel was held the weekend of March 24th, 2018.  Despite a stormy start (Thursday night was nasty enough to cancel curling), the weekend went well with lots of curling happening on Friday evening and all day Saturday.  Saturday finished with a roast beef dinner catered by Patterson's restaurant.  Many thanks to Tom Trueman and Don McIntyre for organizing this always popular event to finish the season and to Cathy Johnston and team for taking care of keeping everyone fed.
